Hellier Langston, acting on behalf of AXA Real Estate Investment Managers SA, has successfully let Unit 5 Crompton Way, Segensworth to Steve Porter Transport, part of KNP Logistics Group.

Unit 5 comprises a refurbished 30,184 sq ft warehouse situated on a 2.1 acre site. The cross-loading warehouse unit was built in the 1970s and benefits from a secure, self-contained 1.46 acre usable concrete yard, making it ideal for a warehouse and distribution operation.

Steve Porter Transport signed up for a new 10-year lease, with the process completing in December 2020. The pandemic inevitably presented some challenges, but Hellier Langston worked hard to keep the momentum going, ensuring that both parties were well-informed every step of the way.

Established in 1981, Steve Porter currently employs in excess of 70 full-time staff across five sites in Southampton, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight, and operates 40 vehicles and 80 trailers. After years of successfully working together, Steve Porter Transport joined KNP Logistics Group in 2019. Combined group statistics currently reach 400 trucks, 450 trailers, 700 full-time staff and 450,000 sq ft of warehousing.

Matthew Poplett, Director at Hellier Langston, said:

"We are very pleased to have let this site to Steve Porter Transport. They are a local company with a national remit and their growth is important to the regional economy as a whole in the middle of a pandemic. This unit is ideal for a warehouse and distribution occupier and is strategically located halfway between Southampton and Portsmouth."

Malcolm Gibson, Managing Director at Steve Porter Transport said:

”Adding an additional southern-based warehouse to the property portfolio creates geographical opportunities. The site is ideally positioned for container devanning opportunities created by The Port of Southampton, further extending the group’s offering to existing and new customers. It's been an incredibly tough year as the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted, but the new warehouse will create employment opportunities, which is great news for the regional economy.”
